Elizabeth Larson: learned how to sew by watching her mom while growing up and was notorious for hacking apart brand new clothes. Her interest in fashion and design remained a hobby throughout school (BA in philosophy) and the beginning of her working career (music and entertainment ind.). Working at Fabric Records in London provided a strong foundation for developing cohesive, cutting edge brand identities. Returning to the US she organized club nights and events, conceptualizing and producing themes and environments. Project management in high-octane situations provided skills to multitask and delegate. Traveling procured a taste for fine fabrics and evolved, urban fashion. Distaste for ‘useless shit that breaks’ requires a sublime standard of function and durability. A religious yoga practice insists clothing and accessories are comfortable and ergonomic.

AMATEURfabricates is the result of years of leisure sewing, some creative madness and no professional training whatsoever.

Bernadette English: began her career in fashion and manufacturing under the table of her aunt's sewing machine sewing clothes and home furnishings for Barbies. As an adolescent, her interest in vintage fashion led her to scour thrift shops and 'rebuild’ clothes with modern tailoring. In the early 90s she landed a job at Alexander Brown, a Los Angeles based company specializing in floral georgette dresses – the current fashion rage. Her position afforded her access to each stage of the manufacturing process from design and conceptualization to manufacturing and shipping. Her design and color sensibility was further promoted at Spumco, an animation house (credits include Ren & Stimpy) where she worked as a color key coordinator, developing the color way of each scene. Her visual and technical education continued at Puma, where she worked in product development as a color key coordinator and design assistant. The blurring task of deciphering minute qualities and changes in shade sharpened her eye and gifted her with a rich visual acuity. Bernadette brings AMATEUR reputable experience, an exacting mind and gangsta spirit.
